VOICES IN MY POCKET

In 2022 I was invited to participate in Arizona State University’s Designing the Pluriversity, an attempt to reconceptualize the “university” as intersected multiple realms and ways of knowing. My contribution—which you can still contribute to—is called Voices in Your Pocket, which utilizes the Memoji function of people’s iPhones to create digital puppets for a portable, modular monument materializing the “voices” we carry in our bodies. The “voices” here—whether good or bad—serve as an observable proxy for one strand of the accumulated education we received or partake-in throughout a lifetime. The Voices in Your Pocket monuments (built and carried in iPhones) are meant to be made and remade as we live more life, as we edit our memories; in whichever way we choose to remember and tell our stories.
